Butler Gallery offers a dynamic and experimental art course for adults, guiding participants on a creative journey through the process of art-making and learning. This workshop is themed around the Tony and Jane O'Malley: Shared Studio exhibition, using the artists' creative practices and distinctive approaches to painting as a starting point for exploration and experimentation.
The course will be led by professional artist Rachel Burke and take place in a welcoming and supportive environment, nurturing participants' creative thinking and artistic practice.
Participants will experiment with a range of art media and gain the confidence to develop their own work. Drawing inspiration from the Tony and Jane O'Malley: Shared Studio exhibition, they will explore themes of colour, abstraction, observation, and personal expression while also being introduced to contemporary Irish and international artists, new styles, and techniques. An important aspect of the course is developing an awareness of artists working today and understanding how they approach subject matter, generate ideas, and develop techniques in their practice.
Throughout the course, participants will explore composition, line, tone, colour, mixed media, collage, and all aspects of drawing and painting. They will also be introduced to portraiture, landscape, and abstract painting, with opportunities to experiment and respond creatively to the exhibition.
Suitable for beginners. All materials are provided.
Refunds are offered up to 72 hours in advance of the event. Please email [email protected] to cancel. A full refund will be issued if the workshop is cancelled by Butler Gallery.
