Join Butler Gallery for a five-week series of talks introducing participants to public art in Ireland. Through contemporary practice and personal perspectives, the series will examine how public art is commissioned, created and experienced, and the challenges artists face when working beyond the gallery walls.

Featuring talks by Orla Ryan, Alan Counihan and Siobhan Tulloch, the programme explores significant public artworks in Kilkenny and across Ireland. The series offers an opportunity to discover connections between public art in our local environment and works in the Butler Gallery Collection.

Talk Series:

  • 19th Nov: Introduction to Public Art.
  • 26th Nov: My Father the Artist with Siobhan Tulloch.
  • 3rd Dec: Per Cent for Art Scheme.
  • 10th Dec: My work in the Public environment with Alan Counihan.
  • 17th Dec: Artists working in our locality.

Refunds are offered up to 72 hours before start of the artist talk.
