Tuneweaver is the brainchild of acclaimed uilleann piper and feadóg stáin virtuoso, Maeve McCann, who is committed to innovation in Irish traditional music. For this special performance, Maeve has partnered with members of the Irish Composers’ Collective, providing a series of new tunes for an ensemble specially formed for the occasion.
The result is a programme that pushes at the boundaries of Irish traditional music while remaining deeply rooted in its musical language. These are tunes that draw on the rhythms, gestures and spirit of tradition, but approach them from fresh perspectives, exploring contemporary styles, textures and aesthetics.
Joining Maeve is an exceptional ensemble of musicians, including: one of Ireland’s most prominent hammered dulcimer player, Brian Leach, Dundalk harper and four-time Fleadh Cheoil champion Donnchadh Mac Aodha, and classical and traditional flautist Avril Kneafsey. Together, they bring extensive experience across traditional, classical and contemporary music, creating a unique meeting point between generations and disciplines.
Come and experience the cutting edge of Irish traditional music with Tuneweaver. With support from Cormac & Eamon Costello.
