Saturday 30th August
Join artist Liselott Olofsson at Butler Gallery for a relaxed, hands-on ceramics workshop introducing printing on clay. We’ll explore the beautiful technique of monoprinting using slip transfer, alongside underglaze printing, to create a series of unique decorative tiles. No experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to play with surface, pattern, and texture. A gentle, creative space to discover new approaches to clay and enjoy making with others.
All materials provided. Suitable for beginners.
About the Artist
The place of materials has a central role in Liselotts work. The root of her practice is clay, formed through a combination of wheel throwing, hand building and slip casting. Liselott uses unglazed and sometimes unfired clay in circular patterns often fractured, disrupted and damaged.
Her approach to the creative process changes in response to the needs of her practice in terms of shape and form but it always starts with research and investigation. This process of delving deeply into a subject informs the work that she make. Liselott sometimes goes back to a making process that is familiar to her during the experimental stage, which then leads to alternative making processes.
Her work explores social and environmental themes by allowing the viewer to interact and question their relationship to the ideas which underpin them. She aim to challenge existing beliefs, to promote reflection and deepen levels of engagement with the themes.
Refunds are offered up to 48 hours in advance of the event. Please email [email protected] to cancel. A full refund will be issued if the workshop is cancelled by Butler Gallery.
