In Celebration of International Women’s Day 2025

In celebration of International Women’s Day Butler Gallery is very pleased to highlight the work of women artists primarily from the gallery’s permanent collection. It is a diverse and eclectic group of works that incorporates many mediums such as painting, drawing, print, sculpture and photography. From the massive to the diminutive, the work on view illustrates the exceptional individualism and skill of each artist. International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Each year, this day serves as a powerful reminder of the progress made towards gender equality and highlights the work that still needs to be done. In 2025, the theme is ‘For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment’. The theme calls for action that can unlock equal rights, power and opportunities for all and a feminist future where no one is left behind. Central to this vision is empowering the next generation—youth, particularly young women and adolescent girls—as catalysts for lasting change. By working together to break down barriers and foster diversity, we can build a more equitable and inclusive society for generations to come.
