Cruinniú na nÓg
Cameraless Film-making

  • Arrow Saturday 7th June

Join us for Cameraless Film-making at Butler Gallery this Cruinniú na nÓg, Saturday 7th June!

Discover the magic of cameraless film-making, in free hands-on workshops with artists Juana Robles and Michael Higgins. Working directly on 16mm film, participants will explore cameraless film-making techniques; scratching, painting, splicing and re-purposing old film stock, to create visual experiments.

Sustainable methods will be used in recycling and re-purposing old film stock, teaching children visual awareness, an understanding of analogue film and the mechanics of image-making.

Through collaborative creation, children will craft unique, rhythmic sequences and bring them to life with analogue projection.

  • Artist-led workshops: 1pm – 4pm, Saturday 7th June. Drop-in!
  • Free for everyone – perfect for children of all ages and families!
  • Children’s Film Screening: Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th June, 11am – 5pm
  • Special Screening: Catch the premiere of a fantastic experimental film made by the talented students of Burnchurch National School, Kilkenny.

Come watch, create and explore! Whether you’re a future film-maker or just curious about the magic of moving images, there’s something for everyone.

Cruinniu na nÓg at Butler Gallery is a free event on a drop-in basis, no booking required.

All materials will be provided.
