Sunday May 26th 10.30am-4.30pm

To celebrate Biodiversity Week this year at Butler Gallery artist Mary Dillon will host a Drawing and Painting workshop on botanical art on Sunday 26th May. Drawing and painting from nature is the perfect starting point to exploring the richness of our natural world. National Biodiversity Week is a call to action to value and protect nature. We can all make a difference.

‘Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.’ Albert Einstein

Our Hedgerows, woodlands, fields and gardens are brimming over with new plant life.

This one day course will provide opportunities to explore investigative drawing and painting. A multi-sensory approach will create a dynamic course, in which the participant will experiment with observation, mark-making and colour exploration.

Workshop will cover:

  • Observational and measured drawing
  • Exploring light and tone to create form
  • Colour mixing and matching
  • Wet and dry watercolour techniques

Materials will be provided.
