Monotype Printmaking for Adults
A monotype is a unique print made by applying ink to a plate and transferring it onto paper. The medium is accessible, spontaneous, and painterly, and enables artists of all levels to enjoy and create. In this workshop, David will demonstrate how to prepare paper for printmaking and how to use non-toxic ink in a range of techniques to create monotypes. Participants explore monotype through mark-making exercises, toning, wiping out, direct painting, and print collage.
David provides exercises for working from imagination and observation, utilizing line, tone, texture, and pattern. Participants will create and print several monotypes.
