The Residency

As part of the Garden Studio Residency at Butler Gallery in April 2025 Leda will gather and build upon their current research into memory, affect, and association, using key texts by the anthropologist Kathleen Stewart, in particular her essay Awkward Attachments. Accompanying this study would be practical experiments with collage and other forms of image making, which would then inform a series of worked up oil paintings. Leda will would aim to complete the residency with a body of paintings depicting childhood characters like Casper the Ghost in different situations, out in the landscape, dealing with adversity or other dream logic situations.
