Butler Gallery was delighted to welcome Hannah McCormick to its artist-in-residence programme for January 2021. Hannah researched and developed a new and original theatre piece for families. This is a winter based exploration of a journey in nature. In the long winter months, when so much time is spent behind closed doors how do we foster our curiosity in nature and play with the elements? Researching winter themed myth and classical children’s stories, Hannah explored stories that celebrate adventure and journeys into the wild.
Playing with water, earth, fire and air and the materials that nature has to offer in winter, Hannah shared some small interactions on play in nature, offering families ideas to use on nature walks and at home.
