Halloween Special: Biomimicry with artist Tom Duffy
Join Butler Gallery's Youth Ecology Art for three days of exploring the spooky underworld of invertebrates. Through pattern making, collage, drawing, block printing and sculpture we will build 2D and 3D worlds, taking inspiration from the composters, pollinators and soil engineers that are vital to our ecosystems. Can these little creatures of mayhem teach us how to build a more sustainable environment? Can we mimic their systems, social structures and architecture to use in our own designs? This will be a fun and playful week of creating our own individual artworks and working together as a group, taking inspiration from nature's clever creepy crawlies. (No actual bugs will be involved in the process!)
This Autumn Course offers young people the chance to work with and learn from professional artists, no previous experience is necessary.
Youth Ecology Art is a programme for 13 to 17-year-olds at Butler Gallery. The programme is delivered with social inclusion at its core, and all activities are free.
