Handwork Skills for Resilient Futures
March - June 2023
Fridays 2 - 5pm at the Learning Centre
12 week course
€60
Participants must be over 18 year of age.
Join us for an engaging and dynamic 12 week course at Butler Gallery - Handwork Skills for Resilient Futures.
Workshops will be led by woodworking tutor Jack Byrne, with basket
weaving by Heike Kahle and natural wood dyeing by Mairead Holohan and
guest tutor Maura Brennan.
In this learning programme, a combination of traditional and adapted skills, models a value system that integrates technologies in a small-scale local production model that is resilient for the future.
Practical skill sets will be guided into both practical and creative applications.
Throughout the course of the learning programme participants will
build their own workshop kit – making baskets for storing tools, carving
new tool handles for old tool heads, making hooks for safe storage of
equipment and using natural dyes for hand carved tools.
