More about The Plant Photography Project
The Plant Photography Project is a series of artist-led workshops with Kasia Kaminska in a rural national school in county Kilkenny, exploring plant-based photography techniques. The project culminates in a Children’s Exhibition at Butler Gallery co-curated by the schoolchildren and drop-in artist-led workshops for the public during Cruinniú na nÓg.
Schoolchildren experience nature walks and foraging for natural materials with artist Kasia Kaminska. Children explore plant based photography techniques to create anthotype photographs that have sustainability at their core. The project aims to promote children as active participants in their artmaking, drawing from experiences in their local natural environment.
Cruinniú na nÓg is a national day of free creativity for children and young people under 18 and is a initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme’s Creative Youth Plan.
This project is funded by the Kilkenny Creative Ireland Programme 2024.
